Chai Wan open day 2008- day 1

Today, finally,we get a chance to catch the glimpse of what was in store for the IVE Chai Wan Opening Day!This was the first Open Day conducted and many secondary school students were visiting the labs and it was also just like when we had a visit to the polytechnics here back home. We geared up on our last minute decorations and we were welcomed by actually, our teacher-in-charge first to give a brief explanation on what actually was Singapore and also most favourite part was to introduce few iconic places of interest of the homeland. After that, she discussed with us on how to make our presentation better understood by the visitors and we could actually, walked out and enjoyed ourselves,as what we did for the day. Firstly,we went to see on the Analytical Science stream section on their research and products on such as detection of heavy metals and also doing some absorbance activity. Subsequently,we proceed on to the fourth floor whereby the students of Food and Nutrition displayed some of their products such as their confectionaries like biscuits,cakes,ice-creams and two types of drinks such as pineapple and blackcurrant juice. In addition, what was the most interesting part was that when we went to the Centre for the Independent Language Learning(CILL) whereby we did played some games like the Putonghua,English,Japanese,Korean,Indonesian and French language and also the tongue twisters whereby to test on the individual's skills of correct English pronounciation of words related within the same initial letter. After that,we went back to the fourth level again, but this time round,to play a board game that was related to accounting, something that might be essential for our future life.Coincidentally,we chat and talked with the students who had went to our country for the Exchange Programme and we actually played the board game called "Business Challenge Jr" whereby the game was played by the means of liability and assets, which also consists of the income streams and also profits and losses. The interesting part was that the board game was created by our own students(Institue of Technical Education) from the Business course by the ITE College Central. After that,we did made some presentation to the different kinds of visitors and we were so tired for the first day.Anyway, there was still some leisure after the event and we have a good rest to continue on for the next day.

We wake up in the late morning and then have our breakfast in the hostel, as we already bought some microwave food and cup noodles to eat. After that we take MTR to tsim sha tsui and went to the nearest HK heritage discovery centre. We already know that the admission is free on this day. The year 2008 represents a milestone in the relationship between HK and France – 160 years of joint partnership. Born in 1848 when France decided to establish a consular representation in HK, the close relations between HK and France continue through the presence of around 10,000 French citizens in 2008 in HK, making it the largest French community in any Asian city. This exhibition looks at the role of French architecture as a vehicle for cultural interchange and its influence on the formation of this distinctive HK identity. The influence of French architectural style spread as HK developed during there key phases – Arrival (the second half of the 19th century), Expansion (the early 20th century to the Japanese occupation) and Renewal (post-war to present). After finish looking and reading this entire staff, we went to the nearest shopping mall and have our dinner there and back to hostel.

magical world

Today, since Dr Helen Wu did mentioned that the school is having their Graduation Day,therefore she told us that there would not be any lesson for the day, which includes the lecture on Biochemical Techniques(BCT).Due to that particular reason, therefore,we went to the Hong Kong Disneyland. From our hostel,we took a bus to Tsing Yi station and then, took the Mass Transit Railway(MTR) to Sunny Bay.Over there,it was the interchange station for the Disneyland Resort line,so we took the train towards Disneyland Resort. We took several photos on the train itself, which the train has its windows portrayed of Mickey Mouse face background and also some of it at the station itself. It was still in teh late morning when we arrived and we bought our tickets then. When we arrived at the entrance of Disneyland,it was ultimately fantastic till we did not know where to go to first. After that,we walked along the Main Street,U.S.A and then, proceed towards the Tomorrowland, which indeed was too fascinated to wonder around. On the tomorrowland,we(Amin and Yonghui) went to the Space Mountain to adventure ourselves between the far reaches of the Universe and enjoyed the roller-coaster ride.Anyway,it was fantastic though.Subsequently,we went to the Autopia whereby you will get a chance to drive on your own Bumpy car ride.Unfortunately,we had to queue for it as it was indeed, very popular. However,it was quite a short distance when we finally get the chance to ride it individually.Ultimately,it was fun. Then,we get a chance to ride on the Orbitron(Gary and Amin).Fortunately, the rides available, which were the attractions that they had, were actually invented for the safety of kids and toddlers. Therefore, the rides were all safe. Then,we went to meet Woody on the Toy Story and took a snap with him as well.Subsequently,we went to Fantasyland which firstly, towards the "it's a small world" whereby we took a journey on the happiest cruise that ever sailed as children of the world sang and dance to the song "It's a small world after all."Indeed,I was mesmerised by the chorus and was enchated as the sail took quite sometime for sailing to different kinds of continents and the song.It was really wonderful. Subsequently,we queued up for the "The Golden Mickeys" and it was actually a musical celebration of Disney's films, snippets of "Toy Story","Beauty and the Beast" and many many more. The show took about half an hour and it was really superb. After that,we went to enjoy a tea-cup ride on the "Mad Hatter tea cups" which indeed we spun quite fast until all of the people that were waiting for their next turn was fascinated by our actions. Then,we went back to Tomorrowland for the Stitch Encounter which represents the Disney's favourite character,Stitch,a mischevious Experiment 626 at the Space Traffic Control centre. It was an interactive session, wherby,Stitch eventually interviewed three selected person. The second person was interesting as it was one of us,who sat on row three, sixth from the centre aisle. Then,Stitch asked me(Amin) to help him named a planet and remembered me,as he claims to be familiar with my face,as neighbours prisoner of Experiment 625.Whatever it is,we were much to have so much fun. The fun was just about to begin when we went to the Cinderella carousel and evetually enjoyed a ride on the carousel or otherwise, known as a horse. Then, the most exciting part was whereby we went for the Mickey's PhilharMagic whereby we need to put on our glass opera and truly,it was a ride on the fantasy as we were embezzled by th eflaunts of jewellery as though like we could grab it and the splashing of real water, while Donald Duck was on a mission to prepare the instrument for the orchestra. Then,we went to snap more pictures on Winnie the Pooh,Mickey and Minnie Mouse,Disney's Chip and Dale on Alvin and the Chipmunks, and also Goofy. It was really fun and we did rest for our lunch and the price was, well to say, quite affordable. Subsequently,we went to Adventureland and it was already towards sunset. We took an engine raft to the Tarzan's treehouse and was enchanted by the waterfalls and also the life on the jungle. Then,we went for the ultimately last show for the day, which was 'Festival of the Lion King".Another half an hour circus entertainment show whereby it was to witness a colourful pagent of music and dance of Disney's Timon and Pumbaa, inspired by Disney's "The Lion King". It was already dark when the show ended and we went back to the square near the Sleeping Beauty Castle to witness with our own eyes, the spectacular fireworks display which engulf by the story of the wonderful world and be dazzled of the fireworks which, was truly a combination of effort and hard labour. After that,we bought some souveniours and was enthrilled by the Magical Coin Press Machine which we,literally bought for it with the casing and then,we went back to the hostel for rest and a good night sleep as Disneyland closed for the day.
