A meaningful day for us

It has been a meaningful day for us even thought is just the 2nd day since we reach HK. It has been comfirm that we will not be having any lesson for the day as it has been cancelled due to a seminar talk in the afternoon. So, we decided to has lunch with meg, teng, her friends and one of their teacher, Amy. After that we went to attend the seminar which was held in their biggest library in causeway bay.

Though the talk last about 2hours, we learn quite alot of things during the talk. The talk is by a doctor from United States of America. He is Dr, Wayne Parrott from the university of Georgia. His talk include, the agricultural biotechnology which is about the genetic modification of food. Nowadys, the food that we eat like tomato, vegetables have been thought modification. This is so as to help in the poor living standard as food price has been rising recently. Thought through such modification benefits s but we faces many challenges and obstacles. which include sickness and now the cost of food demand is rising. In sickness, Dr. Parott mention that if there is a lack of vitamin A in our body it might lead to Vitamin A deficiency which will then cause blindness and it may also lead to death. There are also future challenge like there will be a limitation of water in the near future. And thus with the success of these genetic modification in food, it helps those poor farmers in those low income family in severals country. Thought after the presentation, there are several debates from some students and lecturers who attend the seminar. It somehow make us confuse but will did the idea of it. But Dr. Parrott did emphasis that if such modification is success, they will sell it to countries like Philippines, to help the low income farmers.

After the seminar we headed for dinner whereby we found a halal indonesian fast food restaurant which is suitable for amin. We then head back to our hostel and bought some grocery from the nearest supemarket. We shall need to turn in early as we have practical lesson the next day at 8.40am thus we need to leave early and it takes anout 1.5hours to reach our school in Chai Wan.
