Today,we wake up late as we only have to go for a practical lesson on Microbes and Infection conducted by Dr Bessie Fong. This time, the students are from the Biotech stream and the enrollment is much more lesser than the Analytical Science stream. Our experiment is though the most interesting practical as we've got a chance to shake our hands in order to deduce who has the infectious agent and where is the primary source of infection. All of us participated and luckily, assigned into different groups. We need to wear a sterile glove and need to make full contact with the candy on the glove.Of 10 candies,we need to detect which candy has the infectious agent and therefore, need to perform by the method mentioned above.Since this is a time-process work, therefore,we need to come back tomorrow(Friday,24/10/08) in order to check the results. Besides, after that,we also need to perform Gram's stain on the incubated EMB agar colonies as to achieve a Gram's negative rod-shaped bacteria(bacillus). Therefore,as this is a easy job for us(until we get sick and tired of it),we just do it. The above pictures are those Gram's negative rods. However, for Gary's group,he has a mixed Gram's negative and positive as the members incubated it for too long. After that,we went out to have our dinner andback to hostel to re-emphasise on our report.Luckily,we've done that in time.We also have our leisure.
